The 39th edition of Cersaie provided further confirmation that the Bologna trade fair is one of the most important events on the calendar for the world of ceramics, bathroom furnishings and everything that revolves around this sector. A key role among the products presented here was played by surfaces, bathroom fittings, taps and bathroom furnishings in every shape and form.
Join us to step into the future of bathroom furnishings in this account of Cersaie 2022.
The annual International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings sets the stage for the trends we’ll be witnessing in the world of bathrooms over the coming months: from brand-new entries to firmly established features, we already have a clear idea of what architects and designers have in mind for the future.
A number of different issues were considered, and one that attracted particular attention was undoubtedly environmental sustainability. This question of key importance to the present day was evident in many of the products featured, conceived with an ethical approach right from the design stage. These solutions seek to combine style with energy savings, featuring 100% recyclable materials for floors, tiles and surfaces.
When it comes to surfaces in particular, numerous manufacturers are looking towards the growing demand for materials that can be treated to perform an antibacterial and antiviral function.
More than ever before, this edition of Cersaie has highlighted the evolution of bathroom décor towards a contemporary design approach that has led to the development of a wide, flexible range of products. This impressive variety of new solutions comprises, on the one hand, practical, dynamic ideas, with wall-hung bathroom fittings and mini washbasins, perfect for new, ultra-sophisticated, XS-size bathrooms, while on the other we find striking bathtubs and shower enclosures designed with large, hybrid spaces in mind, the key elements in a brand-new conception of the sleeping area in the home as a place to spend the whole day in.
Carrying out meticulous research into composition, studying versatile furnishing elements able to create links between the various living spaces: this was the concept for Cersaie 2022.
Collections (not only of furnishings) designed for the bathroom area, yet also suitable for other areas in the home, to respond to the growing desire for a seamless interior design approach.
Responding perfectly to this new, fluid vision is 28mm, the brand-new collection by Rubinetterie Treemme, presented at Cersaie: the fruit of the engineering talent of Giampiero Castagnoli and the creative skills of the designer Marco Pisati, this discreet, sophisticated range is crafted in steel throughout, and offers a functional interpretation that brings the essential elegance of minimalist style back to the fore.
28mm is a versatile collection that is both suitable for contemporary living spaces and able to slot smoothly into more classic settings.
As regards finishes, Cersaie 2022 presented sophisticated furnishing accessories with a striking material allure. One example is the Kea collection by Rubinetterie Treemme, with a rich, “luxurious” texture that brings a modern edge to traditional style canons.
Colour proved to be the most eye-catching of the new trends showcased this year at Cersaie, stealing the show on a bathroom stage marked until a few years ago by a total white monologue. Appearing in vibrant, increasingly audacious tones, this year colour has made its entrance not only with darker shades of grey and black, developed on ceramics, finishes and fittings, but also with warm, intense tones and bright, glossy finishes.
These more assertive colour trends join the pastel tints already in vogue for some years now, forming a rainbow of solutions in which taps have a key role to play, and for which collections such as Watt by Rubinetterie Treemme are especially suitable. Featuring multi-function mechanical controls and thermostats for built-in showers, the range takes its inspiration from the world of lighting. With a distinctive, innovative design that’s a splendid complement to the modern concept of bringing colour into the bathroom, the collection comes in a wide range of finishes, from chrome to brushed rose gold.
Poised between past and future, tradition and innovation, essential style and eclectic colours, all with a close eye on environmental sustainability: these are the trends launched in September at Cersaie, bringing fresh prestige and style to the bathroom area and declaring once and for all that this is a room in which audacious décor choices can be made.
Because everything really is possible at Cersaie 2022.
