How to save water? Here are 5 tips from Rubinetterie Treemme!

22 March 2023 World Water Day

Water is the symbol of life par excellence: a precious natural element we must safeguard and avoid wasting.

Established by the United Nations in 1992, World Water Day, celebrated on 22 March 2023, is aimed at protecting this invaluable resource.

So what better occasion to talk about saving water and sustainability?

Rubinetterie Treemme’s Italian-crafted products respect the environment at every stage of the production process through to the use of our taps and showers, thanks to the use of advanced technologies and eco-sustainable materials. All of the company's products are water-saving and WATER LABEL certificated.

How can we ensure this virtuous circle is continued in our homes? How can we optimise the function of a water-saving tap? (you’ll find the most suitable of our collections here)

How water saving works

In addition to using water-saving bathroom or kitchen mixer taps, it’s important to learn to cut waste, starting with little everyday actions designed to ensure rational, aware water consumption:

1 – Avoid needless waste by turning off taps while you’re brushing your teeth, for example. This small gesture can save an impressive 6 litres of water a minute, or even more if coupled with water-saving mixer taps!

2 – Take showers rather than baths. We all know how enjoyable a nice relaxing soak in the bath can be, but this is a treat that is a real waste of the most precious resource we have, so it’s better to take a quick shower, turning off the shower mixer tap as soon as the water is no longer required.

3 – Consider installing electronic taps in your home. Thanks to their water-saving technology, these taps deliver just the right amount of water, with no waste. Have you ever thought of this?

4 – Close the mains tap. When you’re away for a few days, you should always remember to switch the water off at home, to avoid leaks and any kind of nasty surprises on your return.

5 – Pay attention to your toilet flush. Today’s WC tanks are available with two different jets of water, 6 litres and 12 litres. Using the six-litre flush is an act of love for our future.

Our commitment

I’m sure you’ll agree it really doesn’t take much to safeguard this most important of elements.

For our part, we’re committed to reducing water consumption, as well as the amount of lead and nickel used in the production process. Respect for the environment characterises the whole manufacturing process right from the start, with the introduction of production cycles with minimum environmental impact.

A good example are the sophisticated systems for the purification and complete recycling of the water used for the chrome-plating process. An innovative closed-cycle water treatment process enables a significant reduction in the water and chrome content of the residual sludge to be disposed of. In this case, reducing waste also means consuming less energy, thus avoiding the related polluting emissions, as well as making for a healthier, safer working environment for our employees.
